Under Scope, I’m not sure what “Virtual Classroom Equipment Check Out” refers to.
Under Technology and upgrades, there was some conversation in the Faculty Senate IT Use Committee about this line:
“Ideally, upgrade technology during semester breaks, when environments are offline or in low use, so that
instruction is minimally impacted. Document exceptions and obtain concurrence of faculty instructors
using the technology.”It is unclear how departments would generally obtain concurrence of all faculty using a large system, and there is not really a representative body that could provide that input. I suggest changing the second sentence to say something more like, “All proposed exceptions should follow established change control processes such as the IT Change Advisory Board, and faculty and students should be notified in advance of proposed exceptions.”
Under Support, this sentence is a little confusing: “Provide information on obtaining permission from the provider to use or access virtual classroom technologies.”
Do you mean to say, “Provide information on how to obtain permission or access to virtual classroom technologies.”
The last bullet under Support should just say Collaborate, not Collaborates.

Thank you for the input. I like your wording on the technology upgrades and believe it is consistent with IT”s change management. I will discuss with David when he returns next week. I will also need to verify that the intent on the permissions is about access or use but agree that the current wording is confusing.
I will make the change to Collaborate.

Under Technology and Upgrades, should this phrase: “address ADA technology requests as they become known, such as captioning or assisted listening” be more focused on ADA compliance for the system itself (rather than the content within the system)? Or perhaps be rephrased to state that content owners should address ADA technology requests as they become known? I am just trying to distinguish between the department offering the technology that hosts the content and the content itself. The onus for making content accessible would be on the owner of that content.

Under Purpose of the Virtual Classroom Technology Support Standard, should a sixth item be added to the list of considerations: “Security, privacy, and data governance”? There are related requirements listed elsewhere in the document so maybe it’s not necessary, but it does seem like it might be applicable to include with the list of considerations in this section as well.
